DFW AIRPORT, Texas – The summer travel season opens today and Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is ready for the busiest summer in its 41-year history. With more than 18 million passengers expected during the 2015 summer travel season, DFW is implementing several additional customer-focused programs, such as discounted parking rates and a new “Sunny Service Days” engagement program.
“As 2015 shapes up to be our busiest summer season ever with more than 18 million travelers expected, it is most important to deliver what customers are coming to expect at DFW and that is a customer service-focused, travel experience,” said Sean Donohue, chief executive officer at DFW Airport. “We are eager to celebrate our customers this summer, and showcase the many new programs and amenities designed specifically for them.”
Effective now through August 31, passengers can park for seven (7) days for only $55 (less than $8 per day) at one of DFW’s two Express Parking sites, located on the North and South ends of the Airport. DFW’s Express Parking is easier than ever with conveniences such as 24/7 “trunk-to-terminal” shuttle service, luggage assistance, complimentary bottled water and newspapers, TollTag access for automated entry / exit and payment (manned booths available for non-TollTag users), and 7,000+ parking spaces available, including the option for covered parking at Express North. DFW Airport will also host “Sunny Service Days” throughout the summer with dedicated customer engagement teams responding to customer input and spreading some good summer cheer to customers in the terminals. The Airport encourages fans and followers to “check in” and share your experiences at DFW using the hashtag #DFWSummer.
Several new shops and restaurants have recently opened or will open this summer at DFW Airport, including in Terminal A: TUMI (Gate A18), XpresSpa (Gate A25), Swarovski (Gate A24), La Madeleine (Gate A25), Brookstone (Gate A25), and in Terminal B: Artizan Fashions (Gate B28), Soybu (Gate B28), and the Belgian Beer Café (Gate B32).
Later this summer, DFW will achieve a milestone by completing the third and final phase of the Terminal A parking structure, which will be the largest project completed to date under the DFW Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP). When complete, Terminal A Parking will be one of the largest parking facilities in Texas, with 7,700 vehicle spaces on five levels and a state-of-the-art parking guidance system.
DFW is also upgrading other passenger amenities to provide a high-tech travel experience. Free high-speed Wi-Fi, enhanced cellular coverage, 28 teller machines, and many free charging stations and power outlets are available to passengers throughout the terminals.
This summer the Airport will also be celebrating the 10-year anniversaries of Terminal D, Skylink and the Grand Hyatt DFW:
- May 21: Skylink people mover – the world’s largest automated airport bi-directional train system, Skylink connects all five DFW terminals inside security and can transport up to 5,000 passengers per direction per hour. Skylink has traveled a total of 32.4 million fleet miles and has transported over 141 million passengers in its 10 years of service.
