The McMillen High School marching band has returned to school early to begin practice for the 2015 marching season. Under the direction of Chris Brown and Ryan Albert, the 130-member band is comprised of 9th and 10th grade students at the Murphy school within Plano Independent School District.

McMillen’s band will have their first performance on August 27 at Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy when the Lions football team takes on Williams High School. The band will perform a portion of their 2015 show as they prepare for the Plano East Marching Invitational and the UIL Marching Invitational in October.

Chris Brown leads the McMillen High School Band in early morning practices.

Throughout the year, the band will host several fundraisers to accommodate the expenses not included in the school district’s music budget. The first fundraiser for McMillen High School Band is Saturday, September 12 at Kimbrough Stadium. Beginning at 8 a.m., the bands on the East side of Plano ISD will participate in the East March-a-thon. McMillen High School will join Plano East Senior High School, Williams High School, Murphy Middle School, Bowman Middle School, and Armstrong Middle School in marching around the Kimbrough Stadium track in exchange for pledges.

The community can support the band program by pledging funds for a specific student or sending donations to:
