Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Mildred Eileen Cox, 71, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Bro. David Brackett will officiate. Eileen passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, 2015 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Eileen was born September 25, 1943 in Tahlequah, Okla., the daughter of Elmer Austin and Nadine Barrett Austin. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Idaho. She received her associate's degree from Grayson County College, a degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M-Commerce and her bachelor's degree in law from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Eileen was a Baptist and married Floyd W. Cox on Nov. 4, 1960 in Caldwell, Idaho. She was a member of the Texas Bar Association, National Society of the Daughters of the Revolution, CASA, and the Kiwannis Club.
Eileen was a Texas Master Naturalist Volunteer and a member of Natural Parks & Conservation Association. She was the first female County Judge in Fannin County. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Timothy Cox, three sisters, Cookie Bennet, Dorothy Simpson and Betty Giesen and grandson, Robert A. Cox.
