McKinney -- Actor/Writer Jerry Lacy and his wife, actress Julia Duffy will attend the premier of his new comedy, A Reunion of Sorts in McKinney on Friday, March 18. Audience members will enjoy a talk-back after the show, followed by a wine and cheese reception.
The comedy is the winner of McKinney Repertory Theatre’s 2015 New Play Competition, chosen from over 120 entries. The play tells the story of two old pals who are confronted with the return after 30 years of a mutual girlfriend, which brings out all the old rivalry. But it isn't the old girlfriend who shows up, Its her daughter! She is now 30 years old and wants to know her father. But which one is it? Ryan, son of one of the men, now a doctor, figures it out and is smitten by the girl.
Direced by Chris Berthelot, the cast includes Jake Correll as Ted, Chris Bertholet as Nick, Linda Eicher as Ted’s unhappy wife Gwen, Stephanie Diamond as Danielle, Dale Gutt as Ryan and Don Kruizinga as Vito.
The show opens Friday March 18 at 8:00 p.m, with performances Saturday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
About the playwright
Jerry Lacy is an accomplished actor and playwright, having appeared on Broadway with Woody Allen in Allen’s comedy Play It Again, Sam.
On television, Jerry played the nefarious Reverend Trask in Dark Shadows, and, with Robert Kline, Peter Boyle, and Madeline Kahn, formed the Comedy Tonight troupe on CBS. He was also a regular on the daytime soaps, As the World Turns, and Love of Life. Some of Jerry’s recent appearances include Men at Work on TBS and the movies Hatfields and McCoys: Bad Blood and Summoned.
As a writer he’s penned several scripts for various TV shows, six screenplays and five stage plays. Jerry is married to actress Julia Duffy (Newhart, Designing Women) and spends time in New York and California as work and weather allow.
