Leonard, Texas -- Funeral services for Mr. James Franklin Stanley, 83, of Leonard are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Leonard Church of Christ.  Bob Lewis and Charles Wrenn will officiate.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery.  Family viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel of Leonard.

James was born April 27, 1933 in Leonard.  His parents were John Emmett and Ethel Yowell Stanley.  He married Lorene Cox August 14, 1954 in Durant, Oklahoma and they were married 62 years.  He attended the Leonard schools, worked as a carpenter and farmer and was a member of the Leonard Church of Christ.

James Franklin Stanley is survived by his wife:  Lorene Cox Stanley of Leonard; his son:  Monty Stanley of Leonard; his son and daughter-in-law:  David Stanley and Vickie Stanley of Leonard; his daughters and sons-in-law:  Dell & Jerry McNear of Bailey, Vickie & Craig Brown and Tammy and J.R. Wood, all of Leonard; his brothers and sisters-in-law:  Johnny & Merle Stanley of Irving and Derrell and Birdie Stanley of Leonard; his sister:  Nancy Page of Leonard; his sisters and brothers-in-law:  Betty and Forest Brown and JoAnn and J.C. Armstrong, all of Leonard.  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Stanley, a sister, Jean Gregory, and a brother, Jack Stanley.
