Paris -- The January meeting of the Lamar County Texas Genealogical Society will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at the Genealogical Library.  Andrea Weddle will speak to the group about the Special Collections and Archives at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Andrea Weddle is the Head of Special Collections and Archives at Texas A&M University-Commerce. A Certified Archivist, she received her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Louisiana State University in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and anthropology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 2007. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists, Society of Southwest Archivists, East Texas Historical Association, and several honor societies, including Beta Phi Mu International Library and Information Science Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

Andrea Weddle


Weddle joined the faculty of A&M-Commerce in June 2009 as the HeirLoom Project Archivist and was promoted to department head in 2011. She regularly presents at archives, history, higher education, and library conferences. As the Head of Special Collections and Archives, Andrea is responsible for the management of the department, donor relations, and campus/community outreach. Originally from Paris, Texas, she currently resides in Greenville with her husband and two children.

You do not have to be a member to attend meetings of the Society so please come and bring a friend. There will be door prizes.  The Lamar County Genealogical Society and Library is located in the south entrance to the historic Santa Fe Depot, 1135 Bonham St., Paris, Texas.

The Lamar County Genealogy Library is open Tuesday-Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, on the second and fourth Thursday of the month the library will have extended hours of 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. for FREE guided research assistance.
