Fannin County, Texas -- It was a decade ago that Fannin County Sheriff's Deputy Rahamey Mitchell was responding to back up a Leonard Police Officer on a domestic disturbance call when Deputy Mitchell lost his life in a one-vehicle accident in the wee hours of a rainy morning on Saturday, January 10, 2007.
Deputy Mitchell first served Fannin County Sheriff's Office as a reserve deputy, beginning in 2001. He became a licensed corrections officer in 2002 and was licensed as a peace officer in 2003 when he assumed patrol duties.
Saturday, January 10, 2017 marked the 10th anniversary of a fatal accident that continues to cast a pall over Fannin County Sheriff's Office.
Fannin County Sheriff's Office will host a candlelight vigil for Deputy Mitchell 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11 at Fannin County Jail.
The public is invited.
