Honey Grove -- The Honey Grove Lady Warriors opened up a close game with a strong third quarter and held on for an 11-point district win over the Celeste Lady Blue Devils.
Honey Grove had a 10-8 edge after the opening period and the Lady Warriors stretched their lead to 26-20 at halftime.
A 14-2 run by Honey Grove in the third quarter gave the Lady Warriors a 40-22 cushion going into the fourth quarter.
Celeste battled back to outscore Honey Grove 20-13 in the final frame, but the Lady Warriors held on for a 53-42 win.
Honey Grove point guard Diavian Shaw led all scorers with 20 points, Jada Redd put up eight points, Shemiyah Finney and Zakia Smith both scored six, with Isabella Morrison, Nicole Kirkpatrick and Bree Cason all finishing with four points apiece. Demetria Pruitt hit a free throw to round out the scoring.
Henson led Celeste with 13 points and Brown put in 10 points.
