PUBLIC FORUM
What is the Future of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA)?
President Donald Trump promised to help working Americans with “insurance for everybody” and “much lower deductibles” in near-universal health care. He also assured working class Americans that he would not cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, a promise that convinced his blue-collar base to vote heavily for him in the November election.
Now that Congress is back in session, with bills filed that propose cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA, and with those cuts coupled with policies and tax breaks that benefit wealthy Americans and corporations, that legislation, if passed, has the potential to place a special burden on many Fannin County residents and families who depend on these programs for their basic living needs. What can citizens do to fight back? Professor Glenn Melancon of Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SOSU)will address these issues in a public forum on Monday, March 27, 2017.
The Fannin County Democratic Party will host a public forum:
