Information workshop at
Collin College Conference Center May 18

McKINNEY, Texas – Do you have an interest in a career as a professional firefighter? Would you like to work for the McKinney Fire Department (MFD) but aren’t quite sure where to start? Find out more as the MFD hosts a pre-employment informational workshop May 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Center at the Collin College Center Park Campus, 2200 W. University Dr.

The event will educate potential candidates about employment opportunities with MFD, pre-requisite requirements to take our entrance exam and how to navigate the overall hiring process. Potential applicants have the opportunity to participate in a practice session of the firefighter physical ability test (PAT) at 8:00 a.m. May 20 at McKinney Fire Station #2, 2001 Community Ave. The practice PAT will include activities such as climbing the aerial ladder, dragging the life-size mannequin, climbing the multi-story tower, driving the Kaiser sled with a sledgehammer, etc.

“The hiring process to become a professional firefighter can be intimidating and confusing. Different departments may have different hiring requirements,” said McKinney Fire Chief Danny Kistner. “The goal of this workshop is to inform individuals hoping to apply with McKinney what we require. We want to make the process easier.”

In addition to representatives of the MFD, Collin College Fire Academy and the City of McKinney Human Resources Department will have representatives available to answer questions.

Pre-registration for the information workshop is recommended. Please visit www.McKinneyFire.org to complete the pre-registration form.

The MFD will offer an entrance Friday, June 23 in the Conference Center at the Collin County College Center Park Campus, doors open at 5:00 p.m. and closely promptly at 6:00 p.m.  For more information visit www.McKinneyFire.org, or call 972-547-2893.
