Kevin Cardinal Farrell named the 2018 Catholic Foundation Award Honoree

Cardinal to be recognized during Feb. 3 dinner for his tremendous impact on local Catholic community during his time as Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas 

DALLAS –Kevin Cardinal Farrell has been named the 36th Catholic Foundation Award honoree in recognition of his monumental impacts, servant leadership and Christian example for the Catholic community and the entire Dallas area during his time as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. He is currently serving as Prefect of the newly established Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life at the Vatican.

Cardinal Farrell will travel to Dallas to be honored during The Catholic Foundation Award Dinner on Saturday,  Feb. 3, 2018, at the Hilton Anatole. Lydia and Dan Novakov join Mary and Rich Templeton as the 2018 Dinner    Co-Chairs.

 “The Catholic Foundation Award honors an individual or couple for distinguished service and support to further the religious, charitable and educational needs within our Diocese. Cardinal Farrell’s work strengthening Catholic schools, vocations, parishes and social justice within our community is a shining example of the meaning of this award,” said Matt Kramer, president and CEO of The Catholic Foundation. “His accomplishments and influence as Bishop transformed the Diocese and are appreciated throughout the Dallas community at large. We are honored and humbled that he will accept this award in 2018, and plans are in works for a fantastic event to convey our gratitude on February 3.”

Cardinal Farrell was appointed the seventh Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas by Pope Benedict XVI and was installed at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Dallas on May 1, 2007. After serving the Dallas community nearly a decade, he was appointed by Pope Francis as Prefect of the newly established Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life on Aug. 17, 2016. He was installed as a Cardinal and assigned to the church of San Guiliana Matire in 2017.
