The Lamar County Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the genealogy library. The speakers for the evening will be two Lamar County residents, Beverly Fortner and sister, Brenda Hoffman.  They will be talking about the book they wrote on the Bramlette family.

Beverly is a lifelong resident of Paris.  She graduated from Texas A&M Commerce with a degree in teaching and has been a teacher since 1970. She has taught students from age 2 through 74. Not only was teaching her vocation, but her passion as well.  She is married to Ted Fortner, retired homebuilder. Their son Cassidy is married to Heather Taylor and their children are Sydney, 9, and Owen, 5.  Their daughter Amy is married to Jason Thompson and they have two sons, Caden, 18, and Keaton, 15.

Brenda and her husband Ralph Hoffman live in Hopewell. Brenda attended Paris schools and after graduation decided to become a household engineer and mother.  She succeeded beautifully in both areas. She and Ralph have two children and three grandchildren. Their daughter Amanda is married to Charlie Bush and they have two daughters, Ava, 16, and Stella, 12. Their son Joshua has one daughter, Abigail, 5.

Of course, as is usually the case, most young people will not be really interested in the old folks and the old ways until they are no longer with us.  In this case, however, there will be a book to satisfy their questions with answers.

You do not have to be a member to attend meetings of the Society so please come and bring a friend. There will be door prizes and refreshments. The Lamar County Genealogical Society and Library is located in the south entrance to the historic Santa Fe Depot, 1135 Bonham St., Paris, Texas.
