Fannin County, Texas -- Newly discovered negatives at the Fannin County Museum of History are of photographs made by Erwin Smith about 1906-1907 in the Bonham area.

During this time Erwin Smith staged photos about a fictional ranch that he named the Bar Diamond Ranch.  A number of these photos are in the Erwin Smith Collection at the Amon Carter Museum, but the set at the Museum are not.

The photos feature, of course, cowboys and horses.

Drop into the Museum to see these newly-discovered photos, as well as the Museum’s excellent collection of other Erwin Smith photos and memorabilia.

Erwin Smith, of Bonham, is considered by many as one of the greatest photographers of cowboy life.
