SHERMAN, Texas (October 5, 2017 — The Sherman Museum announced today that it will change its hours of operation to allow more visitors to explore the museum. Starting the week of October 15, 2017, the museum’s official hours will be revised to the following:
· Sunday: Closed
· Monday: Closed
· Tuesday: Closed
· Wednesday: 12:00 Noon – 6:00 pm
· Thursday: 12:00 Noon – 8:00 pm
· Friday: 12:00 Noon – 6:00 pm
· Saturday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
In addition to the museum’s official hours, arrangements can be made to visit the museum by prior appointment only on Tuesdays (between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm) and Wednesday through Friday (10:00 am to Noon). The museum is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“We’ve gotten great feedback from the community about our hours and we have listened,” Director Dan Steelman stated. “We are excited to have this opportunity to keep our doors open later and longer so more kids and families can come in, explore the exhibits, and learn. We intend to make the after-school hours especially meaningful with regular programming and mentoring opportunities.”

The Sherman Museum is a non-profit 501(c) (3) educational organization devoted to collecting, preserving and interpreting objects of historical significance for visitors and residents of Grayson County and the Greater North Texas Region. The museum was previously known as The Red River Historical Museum prior to a name change in March 2011.
