Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Richard Keene Gopffarth, 83, of Bonham, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Northside Church of Christ.  Mr. Steve Mohundro will officiate.  Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. Mr. Gopffarth passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 with the love of his life and his children by his side.

Richard Keene Gopffarth was born in Bonham, Texas on January 2, 1934 to Kurt and Katie (McCraw) Gopffarth. He was a graduate of Bonham High School class of 1951.  He attended Paris Junior College and East Texas State University before he enlisted in the US Navy.  He served honorably for 4 years as a naval aircraft mechanic.  Richard married Dorothy June (Dennis) Gopffarth on September 5, 1953 in Bonham, Texas. He worked as a manager at General Cable Corporation in Bonham, Texas for 37 years until he retired in 1995.  Richard was active with youth baseball in Bonham as a coach for the Little and Pony League teams. He was a longtime member of the Bonham Country Club.

Richard spent tireless hours perfecting his yard and planting flowers for him and June to enjoy. He loved activities with family including golfing, swimming, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed spare time after retirement at his family farm in Edhube Texas.

Richard was a longtime member and deacon at the Northside Church of Christ in Bonham.  He served as chairman of the mission work for many years in addition to bus ministry.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, June Gopffarth of the home; son, Greg Gopffarth and wife Rebecca of Windom, TX; daughter, Stephanie Mullins and husband Monny of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Erin Capps and husband Dustin, Hanan Gopffarth, Katie Freeman, and Bynum Mullins and wife Tegan; great grandchildren Hannah Gopffarth, Jayde Freeman and Kameron Freeman; and sister, Kathleen Kight of Center TX.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herman Glenn Gopffarth, and infant daughter, Saundra Gopffarth.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Hanan Gopffarth, Bynum Mullins, Ricky Amlin, Craig Dennis, Kevin Dennis, and Daniel Galvez.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
