The Christmas tree campaign marks the beginning
of the holiday festivities

McKINNEY, Texas  – Historic downtown McKinney has Christmas on the mind and is looking forward to importing a 34-foot Blue Spruce Christmas tree to adorn the city’s square and be the focal point for holiday festivities.

McKinney Main Street has announced a fundraising campaign called a McKinney Christmas Tree – A Gift to the Community, which will raise funds to cover the cost of importing the tree from Michigan and for decorations. For a minimum tax deductible donation of $50 to the campaign, families and organizations will receive recognition at the Christmas tree display throughout the holidays. The first 100 donors who contribute a minimum of $50 will receive a commemorative keepsake ornament.

“Anticipation is building to bring back the Christmas tree to the downtown square and kick off the holiday season,” said Amy Rosenthal, Director of the McKinney Performing Arts Center and Main Street. “Each year the tree serves as a beautiful backdrop for holiday photos and is a beautiful sight for the entire family to enjoy.”

The campaign is supported by corporate sponsors First United Bank and Texas Oncology. Tree-lighting program and donation information is available online at www.DowntownMcKinney.com. The McKinney Christmas Tree – A Gift to the Community campaign continues through Nov. 17.
