McKINNEY, Texas (Nov. 1, 2017) – This Thanksgiving weekend, enjoy walking around with family and friends in historic downtown for Home for the Holidays...a McKinney Christmas. Experience the joy and magic of the season as downtown is transformed into a winter wonderland of shopping, entertainment, activities and food.

Friday, Nov. 24, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 25, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 26, noon - 5:00 p.m.

On Friday, watch faces light up at 6:15 p.m. when the city lights a 34-foot Blue Spruce Christmas tree that will adorn the city’s square. The tree was funded by corporate sponsors First United Bank and Texas Oncology, and the contributions from individuals, families and businesses during the McKinney Christmas Tree – A Gift to the Community fundraising campaign. It will serve as a beautiful backdrop for holiday photos and be a sight for the entire family to enjoy. Following the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy live entertainment by Emerald City Band. End the evening Saturday with a performance by Le Freak – The World’s Greatest Disco Band. Performances will take place on the Nissan of McKinney Stage.

Throughout the weekend, families can enjoy rides on the carousel or Ferris wheel, and grab photos with their favorite Christmas characters including Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman or cuddle animals in the petting zoo.

Children can visit Santa’s workshop by walking through a wintery forest of 50 lit Christmas trees or meet the Grinch in the mini Whoville. If kids would prefer chillier activities, they can head to the inflatable toboggan-style slide or bounce house.

“Your family is going to love exploring downtown McKinney this holiday season. The ambiance is magical from visiting Santa’s workshop to tell him your Christmas wishes, to sliding down the massive inflatable toboggan slide or riding the Ferris wheel, the memories will be truly special,” said Amy Rosenthal, Director of the McKinney Performing Arts Center and McKinney Main Street.
