Nevada -- The Melissa Cardinals rallied past the Community Braves to clinch the District 5-4A championship with their ninth consecutive win.

Melissa's sophomore signal caller Brendon Lewis was 14-of-19 for 302 yards and four touchdowns, including three scoring strikes to junior wide receiver Kennedy Lewis. Tate Whittington snagged the other TD pass from Lewis.

On the ground, three Cardinals eclipsed the century mark rushing. Sophomore Chance Mapps led the way with 115 yards on only six rushes. Junior running back Jabray Young finished with 110 yards on nine carries. Lewis also had a big night running the ball with 103 yards on nine carries. Breelyn Armstrong had 92 yards.

Community is 3-7 on the year and 1-4 in District 5-4A. The Braves are tied with Bonham and Caddo Mills for the fourth playoff spot; a coin toss will determine which team advances.

Melissa (9-1, 5-0) will take on the fourth seed out of District 6-4A in bi-district.
