A&M-Commerce qualifies for NCAA Division II Playoffs for third straight season

INDIANAPOLIS – The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team has qualified for the NCAA Division II Football Championship for the third consecutive season, as announced Sunday evening. The Lions are the fifth seed in Super Region Four and will travel to Winona State (Minn.) University for the regional quarterfinal round on Saturday, November 18.
 
The Lions went 9-1 in the regular season and have won their last five games. Winona State went 10-1 this season. For both teams, their only loss came to undefeated teams as A&M-Commerce lost by one score to Midwestern State and Winona State lost 27-6 to Minnesota State.
 
Kickoff at Winona State's Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
