Mesquite -- The 2017 Melissa Cardinals continue to rewrite the school record book after Melissa picked up its 12th consecutive victory by defeating Gilmer, 35-23, in one of the Region II-4A DII semifinals.

This game was a tale of two halves, with Gilmer leading 14-0 at the half only to watch the explosive Melissa offense score 35 points in the second half to earn a 12-point win.

Melissa advances to take on Pleasant Grove in the regional finals.
