Dallas -- Workforce Solutions Texoma received a Sector Partnership & Career Pathways Award for its work with the Texoma Regional Manufacturing Consortium.  Workforce Solutions Texoma (Texoma) helped form the Texas Regional Manufacturing Consortium, which developed a pathways program for students to find careers in the manufacturing and healthcare fields.  In 2017, the program was recognized by the Texas Economic Development Council for Workforce Excellence.

Texoma also built a website, www.madeintexoma.com, focusing on local manufacturing opportunities.

Additionally, Texoma spearheaded student and parent torus and teacher externships and developed a new high school program, resulting in a Level I technical certification for students at the end of their 11th grade.  The Sector Partnership & Career Pathways Award honors a Local Workforce Development Board that has coordinated with employers, representatives of secondary and/or postsecondary institutions, and/or Adult Education and Literacy programs to produce the strategies that create the skilled workforce that employers need. These strategies also expand employment and career advancement opportunities for adult and youth participants in the workforce development system who are seeking employment in in-demand industry sectors or occupations.

Workforce Solutions Texoma also received two awards for outstanding board performance in the Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Programs.  Texoma received first place in the small board cohort for WIOA Adult/Dislocated Worker Training-Related Employment Performance and 2nd place among 28 boards in the state of Texas for overall WIOA performance.

Texoma is among 28 local workforce boards located throughout the state. The board serves Cooke, Fannin and Grayson counties. The primary goal of TWC and the workforce boards is to meet the needs of Texas employers and workers through locally-designed, market-driven workforce development initiatives and services. All employers, workers and job seekers are eligible to take advantage of these services.
