Dealing with Dementia 2018 -- I am not alone in the journey down the dementia road.  I have just really begun this journey with my sweet husband.  I have done my research, spoken to those of authority and those “in the know.”

Am I totally prepared for our journey? I doubt it sincerely, but I am devoted to being the best wife and caregiver I can be.  I am learning that caregiving is not always easy nor pleasant. I have had to come to terms with some issues I never even thought about.

So, in order to be better informed, I made contact with Texoma Council of Government Department on Aging to set up, with their help, a Caregiving class in Bonham. We meet every third Thursday, from 10:00 a.m.-noon in the Builders Classroom of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham.

TCOG has been generous with information and brochures and they will supply a speaker upon request. If you are a caregiver, I urge you to find someone you trust to give you time to relax, join us, sleep or just have lunch with a friend. Your personal time is not only precious but very necessary to be the best caregiver possible. I hope this will help caregivers to know they are not alone on this journey.
