This work will require temporary lane closures

Paris – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that work to widen FM 1629 in Fannin County will begin in March.

The contractor, Sammy Gist Enterprises Inc., Clarksville, Texas, was granted 112 working days, weather permitting, to complete this road improvement project valued at more than $1.3 million. The project will extend along FM 1629, from State Highway 121 to State Highway 78 with a target completion date of October 2018.

TxDOT officials said the contractor will place construction signs along this route beginning March 1. This project will sometimes require the use of temporary lane closures, and flaggers will be on site to direct traffic when lane closures are necessary. Motorists who regularly travel in this area are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible while this work is underway.

Motorists are also asked to pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
