Honey Grove, Texas -- Karen Jean Cannon of Honey Grove, Texas passed peacefully with her sister and most of her children at her side. She was born October 28, 1937 in Detroit, MI. Karen moved from Michigan to Uniontown, PA in the mid-60s.  In the mid-70s she moved her family to Largo, FL.  She raised 9 children as a single mother, working multiple jobs at a time, and still managed to obtain her GED, along with her Nursing Assistant Certificate and Physical Therapy Assistant Certificate.  In 1989 she met Rupert Lee (Cannonball) Cannon, whom she married on February 14, 1992 in Clearwater, FL. Upon his retirement they moved to Telephone, TX.  Karen made annual trips back to Michigan & Florida for family events. She unconditionally loved all of her children equally and had an individual relationship with each. All of her children and her sister traveled from Michigan and Florida in October 2017 to celebrate her 80th birthday. This was the first time they were all together in over 20 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Rupert Lee Cannon on July 10, 2017; sons, Raymond Lee Wingrove and Arthur Soper; brothers, Richard O'Neill, Robert O'Neill, and James Roger O'Neill; sister, Peggy Ann Marion.

 

Surviving are her children, Debra Ann Yager & husband Bob of Pinallis Park, FL, Donna Jean Yaklin & husband Steve of New Baltimore, MI, Jesse Scott Soper and wife Rose of Almont, Michigan, Laura Ahee & husband Chris of Honey Grove, TX, Kitty Champagne & husband Bryan of St. Clair Shores, MI, Pamela Kay Antkowiak of Roseville, MI, Sharon Jane Brown of Bellair Bluffs, FL & Karen Jean Borders of Largo, FL; twenty one grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; step-children, Sharon Fogle & husband Skeeter of Telephone, TX, Margaret Gist & husband Barry of Ravenna, TX, and Polly Nicely & husband Eddie of Telephone, TX, Lee Cannon & wife Dawn of Telephone, TX; sister, Patricia Sue Pehrson and husband Mike of Macomb, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Cremation services are under the care and direction of Wise Funeral Home.
