Westminster, Texas -- Ronald Lee Bennett Sr., 76, of Westminster, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. He slipped away peacefully from these earthly shores after a courageous battle.  He was surrounded by his wife of 56 years, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Settle Bennett; son, Ronald Lee Bennett Jr. and wife Teresa of Westminster; son, Randle Bennett and wife Angie of Van Alstyne; son, Les Bennett Sr. and wife Debbie of Pottsboro; daughter, Lori Moon of Westminster; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents L.A. "Dick" Bennett and Thelma Bennett, two brothers: Bobby Gerald Bennett and John Bennett, two sisters Doris Stephens and Wanda Rheay. He is survived by three sisters whom he cherished and talked about often Virginia Hood and husband A.R. of Fairview TX, Brenda Rogers of Brenham TX and Hazel Bennett of Rosenberg TX.

Ronald spent most of his years as a General Contractor and owner of Bennett & Bennett Construction. He built many apartment complexes within the Dallas Metroplex area. He was a jack of all trades. It was not unusual for him to get a call from a friend or neighbor needing some type of assistance and he was always willing to pick up and go at a moment's notice. He loved tinkering with lawn mowers and never met a "Briggs & Stratton" engine that he couldn't fix. He also helped in a local farming operation that he enjoyed greatly.  During his latter working years he was a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. To his kids and grandkids he was a virtual "Superman" whenever it came to flat tires, dead batteries, leaky roofs or a plethera of other emergencies. At best he was 30 minutes away with his tools in hand.

We will miss our "honey", "Daddy" and "PawPaw"!

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m. at the Westminster Baptist Church with services following at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jerry Weems Pastor of Westminster Baptist Church and Rev. Bob Lothenore of Bonham Community Church will be officiating.
