Sherman, Texas -- Mary Lou Morris passed from this life into the presence of Jesus, May 12, 2018 at 85 years of age. She was born March 31, 1933 in Howe, Texas, the daughter of the late William and Etta Johnson. Mary attended Howe High School. She married the love of her life, W.C. “Red” Morris and they shared 66 years of marriage. Mary was lovingly known as Mother, Nanny and Great Nanny.

Mary enjoyed life to the fullest and was always willing to do for others. She will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and her faithfulness to her husband and family; the passion she expressed for her grandchildren; and her fun personality. She was a lady of many talents, a self-taught and expert seamstress. Mary was truly a homemaker, always opening her home to loved ones. She had the gift of hospitality with a love for cooking and everyone loved her chocolate pie and fried peach pies.

Mary was a virtuous Proverbs 31 woman. She looked well to the ways of her household; she was diligent and not idle; the fruit of her hands was abundant; her husband and children call her blessed; she had a reverent fear for the Lord; and although humble, Mary deserved praise.

Mary Morris is survived by her two sons: Richard Morris, Dennis and wife; Susan Morris of Sherman, Texas. She was adored by her grandchildren Matthew and his wife, Lisa Morris of Forsyth, Georgia; Meredith and husband, Jeremy Gardner of Locust Grove, Georgia. Her life was blessed with nine great grandchildren: Griffin, Madeline, Emily and Mallory Morris, Cole and Hannah Yanez, of Forsyth, Georgia; Colten, Casen and Landry Gardner of Locust Grove, Georgia. Mallory LouAnn is the name-sake of Mary honoring her initials and sharing the middle name, Lou.

Mary was greeted by her Lord and Savior and many loved ones that preceded her in death, her husband, W. C. “Red,” her parents William and Etta Johnson, three siblings and her daughter-in-love, Sue Morris.

Pallbearers are: Matthew Morris, Jeremy Gardner, Gary Center, Erik Baker, Charles Hamilton and David Duke. Special thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice and Brookdale Willows Memory Care.

The family will receive guests at her viewing on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. The service in honor of Mary Morris will be Friday, May 18, 2018, 1:00 pm at West Sherman Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.
