Texoma Genealogy Group will end our beginner classes on June 13 (second Wednesday of the month) at Sherman Parks and Recreation, and begin, again, on September 12, same time and place with broader topics.  We know summer is a busy time for everyone but encourage you all to spend time researching with the tools we’ve presented over the last 6 months.

Wednesday, June 13, our topic is NAMES. Did you know that John has 100s of ways to spell it, not counting nicknames?  Sometimes there doesn’t appear to be a reason why a name has its nickname.  Accents played a huge part in the phonetic spelling of names as well as the person’s spelling ability. Children were often named in certain sequences and Juniors might not REALLY be Juniors. How does all this play into searching for those lost ancestors? You’ll have a better understanding after this class and it’s going to be FUN!

We’ll see you back at the Sherman Parks and Recreation, (the second Wednesday), September 12 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.  You’re welcome to come early and stay late.

You can find more information on our website at www.texomagenealogygroup.com. As always, if you have questions, you can contact Cindy at cbarnhart50@gmail.com or 512-293-4398 or Carol at carolsbeck@yahoo.com or 903-893-4000.
