Bonham -- Pigskin pundits are predicting a pretty good year for the Purple Warriors, in particular a post-season appearance.
That's the word in this year's edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
The Bonham Warrior football team will have a new head coach and be competing in a different classification when the Warriors take the field in 2018.
As part of the 2018-2020 UIL reclassification and realignment, the Bonham Warriors will be among 106 schools competing in Class 3A Division I.
Class 3A DI schools will have enrollments between 335-504 and Bonham will be among the larger schools in this classification with 488 students.
Bonham will vie for the title in District 5-3A D-I, along with Commerce, Pottsboro, Van Alstyne, Lone Oak, Howe and Emory-Rains.
Texas Football predicts that the four playoff teams out of District 5-3A will be Van Alstyne, Pottsboro, Commerce and Bonham.
The Warriors' first-year head coach John Fish will be working with six returning starters on offense and seven regulars on defense from a team that went 3-7 in 2017 competing in Class 4A.
All-district quarterback Tyler Rodriguez gives Bonham a seasoned signal caller with breakaway speed and doubles as a pick-six specialist in the secondary.
Noah Shellman is another two-way starter with the potential for an outstanding senior season.
Hayden Stevenson is a speed merchant with a knack for big plays.
Mix in Jerrell Stewart, Sam Porter, Aiden Straub, Daniel Dowling and Chris Wilson...it all adds up to an exciting season for Bonham football fans.
