Fannin County, Texas – At the regular meeting of Fannin County Commissioners Court, the meeting opened with the invocation which was delivered by David Woodson who included a remembrance for 9-11-01. A quorum was established with all members in attendance.
In public forum Sheriff Mark Johnson introduced the new warden Jody Wilson of LaSalle Corrections to the audience. Sheriff Johnson stated that the transition as LaSalle takes over the jail had been smooth and was proud to have them on board. Mr. Wilson said he was proud to be here and expected to be an active member in the community.
Agenda item number four approved minutes from both a regular meeting and special meeting on September 4, with some minor corrections.
Item number five was to approve an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between Fannin County, Texas, and Grayson County, Texas.
Agenda item number six regarded the burn ban for Fannin County. There was no action taken on this item except to remove it from future meetings until needed. There is no burn ban in effect.
Agenda item seven, Motorola maintenance service agreement, on the agenda was passed on.
Item eight on the agenda approved the purchase of 17 Tasers for the sheriff’s office at a cost of $30,992. This item did cause some discussion as the motion for this item included financing through fund 81, which are monies donated by NTMWD. There was a disagreement on if these funds were ear marked for this type of purchase.
Agenda item number nine approved the Fannin County Auditor’s monthly reports for August, 2018.
Item ten approved payment of the bills.
Comments by the County Commissioners and County Judge was agenda item eleven. They were as follows.
· Commissioner Lackey also added a remembrance of 9-11. He wanted to recognize the job first responders do, and to keep them in your prayers.
- Judge Carter commented that we have a good relationship with the jail and want to keep it. He also recognized retired Texas Ranger, Bob Prince, a liaison for LaSalle corrections. Mr. Prince was supposed to attend today’s meeting, but had a scheduling conflict. His son, Randy Prince was being promoted to Deputy Director of Law Enforcement Operations for the DPS. Judge Carter understood him not attending this morning’s meeting.
Agenda item twelve was to adjourn the meeting.
