This tree will serve as a living memorial to Betsey Badgett, Barbara Riza, Bettye Jo Clayton, Jessie Ellis, Karen Black and Hoppy Joiner. A plaque to mark the remembrance of these ladies will bear their names.
A meaningful celebration is planned by member Cynthia Vaughan as the Capstone Project that completes the New Horizon Course which promotes leadership in DAR.
“The local Sons of the American Revolution chapter will provide the color guard, and we will enjoy the beautiful music of a bagpiper, Mr. Kelly McGill of the Sherman Police Department Bagpipe and Drum Corp,” Vaughan said.
The State Madame Regent, Mrs. Susan Tillman, and State Registrar, Susan Johnston as well as members of the families will attend. The service is open to the public, as well as any family of MJRDAR members who would like to come and share their memories.
