McKinney, Texas (July 29, 2019) – National Night Out is just around the corner and the McKinney Police Department is gearing up to partner with the community to hold more city-wide block parties than ever before.

Officer Trent Davis, Crime Awareness and Education Officer, is working hard putting the finishing touches on this year’s National Night Out events, ones that are on track to be bigger and better than last year’s. Ofc. Davis says, “National Night Out is a great opportunity for our officers to connect with the community.” So far, there are 10 more neighborhood parties booked for August 6th than we had just one year ago, bringing the total to more than 50.

In addition to the block parties Ofc. Davis is coordinating with neighborhoods throughout the city, beginning tomorrow, the McKinney Police Department is hosting four other events leading up to National Night Out:

And for the first time ever, we are partnering with the Community Food Pantry of McKinney to collect canned or pre-packaged fruit at the block parties. Also new this year, there will be a Superhero Photo Contest so that even the smallest McKinney residents can get in on all the fun.
