Ivanhoe -- The Sam Rayburn boys dropped in 23 points in a busy third period to distance Calera as the Rebels pulled away to win 64-50.
With J.R. Moody connecting from inside and beyond the arc, Calera grabbed a 14-8 lead after the opening period.
Sam Rayburn's Devon Bundy found his range in the second quarter and the Rebels surged ahead 28-24 at halftime.
In the third period it was Shane Hartline with the hot hand and the Rebels had a 51-38 cushion entering the fourth period. The Sam Rayburn boys came away with a 64-50 Homecoming victory.
Shane Hartline led the Rebels with 23 points, followed by Devon Bundy (18 pts.), Chris Sepaugh (12 pts.), Mick Maidens (2 pts.), Chris Sanders (2 pts.) and Matt Davis (1 pt.).
Calera's J.R. Moody finished with 23 points and teammate Michael Garrett was close behind with 19 points.
The Lady Rebels put their game away early and finished with a 54-38 win over a young Calera squad. Sam Rayburn knew the Lady Bulldogs had no answer for Cristyn Manhart in the paint and the sophomore center worked over the Lady Bulldogs for 16 points in the first half. The Rebels led 30-9 at the break.
Calera fought back in the third period behind the play of C. J. Thurber and Lauren Thomas, but Ashley Arthur and Christi Nicholas matched the Lady Bulldogs shot for shot and the Rebels were up 44-21 going into the finale. Thurber and Caitlyn Coker helped Calera trim the margin down the stretch, however Sam Rayburn rode their early advantage to a 54-38 win in front of their Homecoming crowd.
Cristyn Manhart led all scorers with 20 points, followed by teammates Christi Nicholas (11 pts.), Ashley Arthur (8 pts.), Katie Skidmore (8 pts.) and Jessica Hardy dropped in seven points in addition to directing the Lady Rebel offense.
Calera collected eight points from Caitlyn Coker to go with seven points each by C.J. Thurber and Allie Metcalf.
