Bonham, Texas -- The CARES (Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security) Act provides approximately $31 billion in emergency educational funding to students, schools, institutions and states across the country.  Funding for schools can be used for cleaning and sanitizing facilities, purchasing educational technology such as laptops and hotspot devices and training educators to provide online/remote instruction.

Bonham ISD received $314,000 in CARES Act Funding.  These funds will be expended to purchase cleaning and sanitization products, provide professional development to staff and purchase technology devices and programs.

The City of Bonham contributed $20,900 from their CARES Act allocation to Bonham ISD in order that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) would match their contribution and provide an additional $20,900.

This allocation from the City, along with the matching funds from TEA, allows Bonham ISD to purchase even more technology resources for teachers and students.

Bonham ISD is grateful for the willingness of City leaders to partner with the District in order to benefit students.
