Greenville, Texas -- It's a great time to come on out to visit the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum. The museum has just installed a new temporary exhibit on the African American Experience in Hunt County.  This exhibit covers the fascinating life stories of fifteen individuals from this county through both artifacts and interviews.

Two dedicated volunteers, Betty Franklin and John Yznaga, conducted and filmed over fifteen hours’ worth of video as people shared their memories and personal histories. These videos have been condensed and compiled into three thirty-minute segments in which one will be featured each week during the exhibit’s run.

Just some of the people covered include Donald Ward, Hattie Tennison, Rev. Phillip Dukes, Mollie Stigger and Rev. Charles Faulkner. Have fun learning about their histories and discover the history of black schools in the county as well as some other interesting facts. The exhibit will run through April 24.

The Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10-5 and general admission is $6 adults, $4 seniors/veterans/college students and $2 6-18 yr. olds.
