Bonham, Texas -- The graveside service in honor of Jack Richard Keene, 82, of Bonham, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at The Willow Wild Cemetery Pavilion, 1220 W 7th St. in Bonham, Texas. The service will be conducted by his friend, Dr. Jeff Johnson, and his nephew, Reverend David Johnson.
Jack Richard Keene went with the angels to his Heavenly home on October 3, 2021. He suffered from complications due to Parkinson’s disease for quite some time. Richard was born Friday, October 7, 1938 at S.B. Allen Memorial Hospital, Bonham, Texas to Clyde Duncan “Dick” Keene and Ruby Vern Echols Keene. He attended all Bonham schools and graduated from Bonham High School. He met Beatrice Standifer, known as Bea, while they were both attending the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas in October 1959. Richard and Bea were married June 16, 1961 at Grace Temple Baptist Church on West Oak Street in Denton, Texas. They moved to Bonham and Richard worked there for General Cable Corporation for 39 years before retiring. He loved to hunt and fish, and especially loved the hunting and fishing trips to the mountains of Colorado with his dad and brother, Michael Keith Keene, and his other hunting buddies. He was always thankful for his eyesight to enjoy God’s beautiful earth. Richard was very talented. He could build and fix anything and loved working in his yard. Family was very important to Richard and he enjoyed many family vacation trips, especially to Colorado and other mountain states and Canada. He was lovingly named Poppie by is granddaughter, Jasmin. He was Poppie to Jasmin, her husband Jason, and Jasmin’s sisters Ashlyn, Kayla, and all of their friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bea Keene; granddaughter, Jasmin Julia Keene Vissage and her husband Jason Vissage Jr. and Jasmin’s sisters, Ashlyn Blankenship and Kayla Stephens; sister, Pat Butler; brothers Michael Keith Keene and wife Cheri, Stanley Keene and wife Annette. Sisters-in law Reba Gant and husband Dale and Linda Standifer. Brothers-in law Charles L. Standifer and Jackie L. Standifer. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Devin Keene; his parents Dick and Ruby Keene; brothers-in law Everett Butler, Milton R. Standifer, and Edwin D. “Red” Standifer; sister-in law Wilma Standifer.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Jason Vissage Jr.; nephews Bryan Butler, Brett Butler, Michael Brandon Keene, Zack Keene, Adam Anderson, and Sebastian Murden.
There will be no formal visitation but he will lie in state from 8:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 and 8:00-12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Wise Funeral Home 219 West Sam Rayburn Drive in Bonham, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to:
