Bonham, Texas -- Graveside services for Joy Nell (Womack) Minnick, 83, of Bonham, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Willow Wild Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service under the pavilion from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Joy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center in Bonham, TX.

Joy was born in Delba, TX on February 12, 1938 to Virgil Venus Womack and Ola Mae (Gibson) Womack. She married James C. Minnick on June 29, 1957 in Durant, OK.

Joy was a mother, sister, and military wife who followed her beloved husband, James, to many locales around the world including Air Force bases in Wichita Falls, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Abilene, TX; Columbus, MS, Columbus, OH, and Fayetteville, NC and internationally, in Paris, France and Luzon Island, Philippines. Her gift was making each place that their family lived a comfortable and welcoming home.

After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Bonham, TX. She worked at the Fannin County Hospital as a dietary aide, which she enjoyed. She loved to read cookbooks and took pride in cooking for her family. She was always excited to get seasonal flowers to decorate her front porch, which was always beautiful and colorful to reflect the seasons of the year.

Joy is of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by son, James Minnick and wife Sherry of Ravenna, TX; daughter, Jacqueline Kennedy and husband Ricky of Bonham, TX; grandchildren, Jason Minnick and wife Michelle of Ravenna, TX; Clint Minnick and wife Shannon of Ravenna, TX; Jaime Collins and husband Ryan of Montgomery, TX, and Caleb Kennedy and wife Sierra of Sherman, TX; great grandchildren, Hannah Minnick, Sarah Minnick, Cathryn Minnick, Henry Collins, Charlie Collins, Olivia Kennedy, and Marleigh Kennedy; and brother, John H. Womack, Sr.; along with several nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Minnick, youngest son, Jon Paul Minnick, who tragically passed away in a car accident; parents, Virgil and Ola Mae (Gibson) Womack; brother, Eddie Womack, and sister, Billy Jo Womack.
