Bonham, Texas -- Jerry Odell Powell, 82, of Bonham, TX was born on May 14, 1939 in Denison, TX to Thurman Odell and Dorothy Willis (Chancey) Powell. He joined his heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 during his stay at Texoma Medical Center Hospital in Denison, TX.

Jerry Odell Powell married Vera Nell “Susie” (Dale) Powell on January 22, 1960 in Bonham, TX. Jerry has been reunited in heaven with his beloved wife “Susie” whom he was married to for 50 1/2 years, before she passed away on August 20, 2010.

Jerry attended Paris Junior College where he received an associate degree. He worked for Lance Snack Foods, before retiring. Jerry served honorably in the United States Army. He was a member of Constantine Lodge 13 and a member of First Baptist Church in Bonham, TX. Jerry enjoyed being outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughter, Debra Powell and husband Doug Bryson of Allen; son Charlie Powell and wife Rolinda of Bells; grandchildren, Triston Powell and Hattie Powell; sister Therma Andrews and husband Staley of Telephone; brothers Richard Powell and wife Rita of Olive Branch, MS, and Phillip Powell of Ravenna; in addition to numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife Susie, Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Dorothy Powell, and brothers, Mark Keith Powell and Stephen Powell.

Visitation will be held at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 followed by funeral services starting at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Gary Purdy will officiate. Interment will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Triston Powell, Jimmy Hardy, Staley Andrews, Phillip Powell, Brian Hardy and Stan Nelms.

The family would like to give special thanks to Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home and the staff for providing excellent care to Jerry during his stay with them these last few years.
