BOWLING FOR DOLLARS

Get ready for some bowling as the senior class of 2005 strives to raise funds for their all night, drug and alcohol free prom. "It is something we look forward to for the four years we are in high school, said Kalla Ricketts, and we hope to make it a great time to spend one last night with our high school friends."

Much of the money raised is given back to the students in the form of scholarships and needed college items.

BALLOON POPPING MACHINES

Students in Mrs. Estes' integrated physics and chemistry classes used their imagination and much creativity to invent a "Pop the Balloon" machine! The Rube Goldberg competition is an annual event in all SHS IPC classes. This year's problem involved building a machine using a wedge, pulley, wheel, axle, incline plane, nail, screw and lever that would be able to pop a balloon. The results were all quite unique.

DILLINGHAM COLLECTS FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS

Tasha Lever's sixth grade social studies class wasted no time in their outreach to the tsumami victims. The announcement was made that Dillingham students could give money to assist in the cleanup and by the end of the first day, they had collected nearly 100 dollars. "The goal is five hundred, said Lever, but after the immediate outpouring in just one day, I think we will pass 500." Dillingham students have an excellent reputation of giving. They give to St. Jude's Hospital every year and were generous to 911 victims. "Dillingham students are some of the most caring students I know," said Principal, Clif Cotton.

WASHINGTON STUDENTS SING

As students return to school after the holidays, they look forward to the time in their day that they are able to sing and draw. Students gain much during these enrichment classes of choir and art that enable them to do better in their reading, writing and math. The skills learned in fine arts classes are essential to a complete and well rounded student.
