Bonham, Texas -- A celebration of the life of John Edmond Durst, 54, of Bonham, Texas, will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham, Texas. The family will receive guests from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

John E. Durst passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022. John “PaPa” was born on May 24, 1968 in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up in Bonham, Texas, where he attended Bonham High School. After high school, he attended Grayson College and shortly after, began his construction career. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Grant. John was a sports enthusiast, especially enjoying Nascar, where he would spend hours watching his idol, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was also an avid Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys fan.

John is survived by his two daughters, Skye Durst of Mulberry, TX, and Arye Durst of Bonham, TX; mother, JoAnn Durst of Bonham, TX; sisters Teri Durst and wife Tammy of Shreveport, LA, Mary Durst of Bonham, TX; niece Jennifer Dyess of Shreveport, LA; grandson Grant Dodson of Mulberry, TX; and great nephew Hudson Dyess of Shreveport, LA, along with other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John was preceeded in death by father, Dr. John Durst, and grandson Grayson Dodson.
