Honey Grove, Texas -- Jerry Lynn Shipman, 70, was born in Paris, TX, on October 23, 1952, to William Lyndall Shipman and Ruth Lee (Yandell) Shipman. Mr. Shipman departed this earthly world to his forever home December 6, 2022, in Dallas, TX.

Mr. Shipman was a football player for Honey Grove High School, from which he graduated in 1971. Jerry married the love of his life Robin Jan (Little) Shipman on September 30, 1978, in Honey Grove, TX and the couple spent 44 years together before Mr. Shipman’s passing.

Jerry was a lover of life and over time enjoyed many activities including golf, bowling, flying remote control airplanes, listening to music, watching old timey shows, particularly black and white westerns, and tinkering. He was a collector of John Deere memorabilia and loved antiques, especially antique vehicles that he enjoyed working on.

Jerry was an immense fan of the New Orleans Saints, who he watched every week. Mr. Shipman had one grandchild Aurora McLeod who held a special place in his heart.

Jerry Lynn Shipman is survived by his wife of the home, Robin Jan (Little) Shipman; children, Joshua Lynn Shipman and wife Leyla of McKinney, TX,  Jacob Levi Shipman of Honey Grove, TX, daughter Katie Scarlett Shipman and husband Micah McLeod of Paris, TX; granddaughter, Aurora McLeod of Paris, TX; brothers, Bruce Shipman and Ricky Shipman both of Honey Grove, TX, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and beloved friends.

Mr. Shipman was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, aunts, uncles, and one niece.

Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Honey Grove, TX. A memorial service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Brother Terry Paul Cunningham will preside.
