Trenton, Texas -- Pamela Piott Thompson, 74, of Trenton, went home to the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2022 following medical complications.
She was a New Year's Day baby, born to James Harold and Addran Louise Piott on January 1, 1948. After graduating from Bonham High School, Pam earned a Bachelor of Business Degree from East Texas State University before beginning a very successful career with Mobil Oil. She married her college sweetheart, Steven Price Thompson, on March 27, 1970.
Pam’s career with Mobil Oil began with a position in the accounting department. She always said that she was lucky to be taken under Pegasus’ wing in a world of male accountants. Her first boss, George Grey, worked closely with her when auditing Mobil Oil tank farms. She moved through the company quickly, enjoyed international business trips, and ended her career as the manager of a global database that tracked employee training necessary to perform specific geological endeavors. She established the Mobil Place Choir and was proud to direct performances around holidays. After 27 years, she retired from Mobil Oil. Her career ended at Bill Terry’s law office, on the square in Bonham. She retired one week ago.
Pam loved to play the piano, and her mother will tell you about the times Pam would play in the Clark Memorial Church. She shared her musical talent with church congregations in every community she lived, including the First Christian Church in Bonham, where she had played the piano and pipe organ for several years. A month ago, she had the honor of playing the piano at her mother’s 100th birthday when everyone sang Happy Birthday.
As successful as she was in her career, everyone who knew Pam remembers her roles as wife, mother, grandmother. She successfully balanced a career and raising her two daughters, Amy and Amber. After living in Irving and Carrollton, in 1992 she moved to Trenton, Texas, where their home is today.
Pam enjoyed music, cooking, sweet tea, shopping at Chico’s, playing Words with Friends, Bunco gatherings with her friends, helping Steve around the farm, and occasionally sneaking off to the casino. She devoted countless hours working with the Bonham High School All-School Reunion committee, helping to organize Purple Haze reunions. She knew all of her classmates and became the go-to person for the great Class of 1966.
She was a doting Grammy and loved to have her grandchildren on the farm and enjoyed supporting their participation in theater, sports, and musical performances.
Pam is preceded in death by her father, James Harold Piott.
