Bonham, Texas -- Mrs. Virginia Davis McDowell went to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Virginia was born in Dodd City, TX to Lucille and Oscar Davis.

Virginia has a long working career, working at LTV in Grand Prairie Texas, MHMR of Bonham and Texas Instruments of Sherman.

Virginia had many hobbies including sewing for her family and friends. She was known to be a great cook and shared this talent with her sisters. Virginia was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband James T. McDowell, parents, Lucille and Oscar Davis, brothers, Kenneth and Dwain Davis, sisters Betty Lakey, Shirley Reece, Sandra Cheowa Mokine, and Brenda Hale, and her grandson Robert Owens.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Trudi McDowell of Ivanhoe, TX, Judy Smith of Bonham, TX, and Cindy Jester of Whitesboro, TX; sons, Paul McDowell and wife Lois of Ravenna, TX, and Lee McDowell and wife Carla of Helen Springs, AR; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Virginia will be dearly missed by her family. They find great comfort knowing she is with Jesus and reunited with her loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. Bro. Cary Kinnaird will officiate. Interment will follow at Sandy Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Shawn McDowell, Rickey Owens, Trey Owens, Mitchell Davis, Chris Hale and Danny Davis.
