Van Alstyne, Texas -- Robert W. Corcoran passed from this life Wednesday, January 24, 2023, at Woodlands Rehabilitation Suites in Denison, Texas.

Robert (Bob) (Dad) (Corky) (Da) (Grandpa) was born on December 22, 1931, in Bisbee, Arizona to James and Agnes (Johnson) Corcoran. He was the seventh child in the family of five sisters and one brother.

Robert married Elaine Jay on the 23rd of August, 1952 in Bisbee at Saint Patrick Catholic Church and they were together for 69 years until Elaine passed away on January 1st, 2022. They raised five amazing children.

Robert was invited to join the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed at NATO Headquarters in Paris, France where he was a repairman of Cryptology Equipment. After his Army duty was completed, he attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Several years later, he received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.

The family lived in California, Arizona, Texas, Illinois and New Hampshire due to job-related moves. Robert retired in 1998 as Vice President of International Sales and Marketing. For the next eleven years, he had a pest control franchise in Arizona.

In 2011, Elaine and Robert moved for their last time, to Van Alstyne, Texas, into their 20th home since their marriage in 1952. This move allowed them to be closer to their sons.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife, his five sisters and one brother and one son, Joseph.

He leaves three sons and one daughter, Larry and his wife Denise (Lavoie) Corcoran, Paul and his wife Karla (Anderson) Corcoran, Father Anthony Corcoran S. J. and Mary (Corcoran) and her husband Louis Giebel.

Robert chose to be cremated and a Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Van Alstyne, Texas, 1 pm, Friday, February 17th. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherman, Texas, next to his wife and son Joseph.

A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
