Bonham, Texas – The Fannin Agricultural Association, Inc. is announcing their first annual Steaks on Main Ribeye Cook-off and dinner will be on April 1, 2023 at the Fannin County Courthouse on 101 E Sam Rayburn Drive, Bonham, TX 75418.

Steaks on Main is communitywide event created to promote agriculture and Fannin County through a day-long ribeye steak cooking competition, ribeye dinner, and a free concert on the Bonham square. The purpose of the event is bring together Bonham, Fannin County, and the surrounding areas in the spirit of food, fellowship, and friendly competition. Excess proceeds raised from the event are intended to be donated to County FFA and 4H programs. Please come and join us and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, a ribeye dinner, and live music by Jason Boland & The Stragglers.

Ribeye Cook-Off Competition

The Steaks on Main Ribeye Cook-Off Competition is open to all who would like to enter. The teams will set up between 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 and the competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a cook’s meeting. Steaks will be judged on taste, appearance, tenderness, and doneness. Team entrants will have a location in proximity to the Fannin County Courthouse. Teams are encouraged to cook hors d’oeuvres throughout the day for the public and all team entrants will be required to cook steaks for the ticketed ribeye dinner at 6:30 p.m. Winners will be awarded a cash prize.

1st Place… $2,000 & Champion Belt Buckle

2nd Place………………… $1,500

3rd Place…………………… $750

4th Place…………………… $750

5th Place………………….. $250

Ribeye Dinner

The ribeye dinner will consist of one (1) choice or better ribeye steak cooked by the competition teams served with baked potato, salad, and trimmings. Seating will be available for all who purchase a ticket.  

Tickets for the ribeye dinner are on sale now for will-call pick up the day of the event at the Fannin Agricultural Association, Inc./Steaks on Main booth located on the square.

Tickets will also be available for sale at the Fannin County Farm & Ranch Roundup at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Live Music

 

A concert headlined by Jason Boland & The Stragglers will be held in the evening beginning at 8:30 p.m. on the Bonham square. The concert is free to attend.

Schedule of Events

7:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Ribeye Cook-Off teams arrive and set up.

11:00 AM: Cook’s meeting on northwest corner of square.

11:00 AM – 5:15 PM: Competition, hors d’oeuvres, community fellowship.

5:15 PM: Ribeye Cook-Off Awards Presentation

6:30 PM: Ribeye Dinner begins

7:00 PM: Live Music Begins

8:30 PM: Jason Boland & The Stragglers
