Pottsboro, Texas -- Donna Kay James, 76, of Pottsboro TX, passed away on February 3, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a month-long battle with a post operative infection.

Donna was born on May 22, 1946, to J C Stevens and Nina Christine Dudley Stevens in Denison TX.  She graduated from Sherman High School in 1965. Shortly thereafter she married Russell Wayne James.  Donna and Russell went on to have 2 children, Cynthia Ann James Nichols, and Jeremy Wayne James.   She returned to college in the '80s where she studied dental assisting.  Soon after the completion of her degree, she went to work for Dr. Todd Svane, where she remained employed up until her death. Later in life she married Allen Eugene Whitaker who remains a very influential member of the family.

Donna taught us to love the simple things in life.  She loved her job, shopping (especially on the QVC Network), playing Bingo, and indulging on Pizza and Cheeseburgers.  Most importantly, Donna loved her family, and being able to build memories and explore the world with them.

Donna was predeceased by her mother and father, husband, and brother Larry Stevens.  Donna is survived by her sisters, Dianne Roberts of Sherman and Connie McVeigh of Arlington; Prior spouse Allen Whitaker of Sherman; daughter Cynthia James Nichols and husband David of Pottsboro; son Jeremy Wayne James and wife Boni of Pottsboro; She has 4 grandchildren Seth Torres (Brenda), Hunter Torres, John Tyler Jones (Taciani), and Pyper James.  She also has five great grandchildren Gregory and Hailey Jones, Cecily Torres, and Isabella and Jade Jasso, plus one aunt and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
