Sherman, Texas -- Mildred Louise "Millie" Boren, 69, of Sherman, TX passed away on Friday, February 24 , surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.

Millie was born on September 3, 1953, to E.P. and Edith McCright in Sherman. She lived in Sherman throughout her life. On her own, she raised three children from her first marriage (Cindy, Christy, and Steve) until she met and then married the love of her life, Richard Boren, on May 27, 1988. Together, they shared a love of home improvement, which they used in each of their family homes over the years. As empty nesters, they also enjoyed travelling and seeing the country.

Millie loved “projects”, from craft projects with her children and grandchildren to full home renovations. She loved “making memories” with her family while making things beautiful. She was a devoted Mammaw and Mimi to her grandchildren and loved baking and cooking with them.

In her well-earned retirement, Millie enjoyed her time becoming a Master Gardener and sharing her green thumb and knowledge with others. She also enjoyed volunteering for Grand Central Station, doing sewing projects to improve the lives of its visitors. She felt it was important to help others as she had been helped early in life.

Millie is survived by her husband, Richard Boren; sister, JoAnn Fogle; children, Cindy Thompson, Christy Larkin (and husband, Jon), and Steve Thompson (and wife, Mendi), and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3 at Waldo Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Central Station or Home Hospice of Grayson County.
THANK YOU to Home Hospice of Grayson County.  Their support and care for Millie throughout this journey has been a tremendous comfort.  We are especially thankful for Mike, Crystal, and Stacey, her primary nurse and aides, and to Toni, who supported our family as we navigated her final days.
