In his best performance of the year, Bonham High School junior Justin McBride brought home the 4th place medal in the 242-pound weight class at the Texas High School Boys State Powerlifting Meet in Abilene March 24.

Going into the meet McBride was ranked 22nd out of 23 lifters, but he saved his best for last, boosting his totals from the regional meet by 110 pounds.

McBride lifted 650 in the squat, 440 in the bench press and 520 in the deadlift for a total of 1610, only 20 points less than the third-place finisher.

At the Girls State Powerlifting Meet in Frisco, Bonham High School senior Naomi Gonzalez placed 10th out of 17 lifters.

Gonzales lifted 360 in the squat, benched 165 and lifted 340 in the deadlift for a total of 865, a 75-pound increase from the regional meet.

Roxi Campbell was selected for the Academic All-State Dirls/Boys Texas High School Powerlifting Elite Team.

Sabrina Larue, Xitlali Padilla and Jack Porter were named to the 1st team and Connor Alley earned a spot on the 2nd team.
