Honey Grove, Texas -- Zula "Dean" Bernadean Slagle was born May 28, 1929, in Lamar County, Texas, to Bill and Anice Baty. Mrs. Slagle passed away March 26, 2023, at Guardian Angels in Arlington Texas.

Dean married Grover Hurley Slagle on September 7, 1949, in Dallas, Texas. They were happily married for 53 years before Mr. Slagle’s passing in 2003. Dean helped support her family as a legal secretary employed by LTV, Bell Helicopter, and Lockheed Martin. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dean liked to spend her free time playing Bunko, going on their annual Vegas trip, attending chili cook-offs, going on cruises, and watching The Uncle Bill Roach Band.

Dean is survived by her sister, Jean Holly; son, Mike Slagle and wife, Christina; daughter, Susan Slagle; grandchildren, Zoe Stollery and husband, Brian; Erica Slagle; Jake Slagle and wife, Shannon; Wendy Slagle; Jeff Black; Tim Black; Richard Black; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Anice Baty; her sisters; June Collard, and Jo Clark, as well as her loving husband, Grover.

Funeral services for Mrs. Slagle will be Saturday April 1, 2023, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Honey Grove, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Slagle, Jake Slagle, Brian Stollery, Hurley Stollery, Chase Gardner, and Grover Slagle.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ashton Slagle.
