Dodd City Hornets sweep Ector in regional semifinals

Bonham, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets swept the Ector Eagles, 7-2 and 14-6, in the regional semifinals to advance to the Region II-1A finals where the Hornets will take on the winner of Abbot/Graford with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

In game one, Logan Lackey sat nine batters down on strikes on his way to a seven-inning one-hitter.

Alex Helms and Layton Vaught both went 2-for-3 and Nick Glover drove in two runs in the 7-2 victory.

H. Trainer had the hit for Ector.

In game two, Dodd City scored five runs in the second inning and came right back with five more runs in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead.

Ector would outscore Dodd City 6-4 during the remainder of the game, but Dodd City's big lead held up for a 14-6 win to sweep the series.

Logan Lackey, Alex Helms, Nick Glover, Ethan Barnard and Maddox Lappin all had one hit apiece for Dodd City.

Nathan Harris went 3-for-4 with a home run for Ector.

Barnard scattered seven hits over 6.1 innings to pick up the win. Aydan Balvin came on in relief in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the save.

With the victory, Dodd City moved to 19-4 on the year.
