Bonham, Texas -- On Saturday, May 6, 2023, historic downtown Bonham was filled with classic cars and trucks, dozens of vendors and a full slate of live music for the annual Bonham Heritage Day Festival.
In the Car & Truck Show, William Robinson took Best in Show with his immaculate 1962 Chevrolet Impala and Colt Brinlee picked up the People's Choice Award for his entry.
Inside the restored 1888 Fannin County Courthouse, Tom Thornton and Barbara McCutcheon of the Fannin County Historical Commission were giving tours of the building.
Live music began with a performance by Gary Pond and continued all day with Keeton Simpson, Lady G, 78Live, Watusi and Mo Halen.
The Heritage Day Festival was one of several events going on in Bonham on Saturday. At Neighbors Place Winery, friends gathered to cheer on a local businessman's horse that earned a berth in the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby. Jake Shockley, owner of Shockley Insurance Agency Inc., is part-owner of Confidence Game, a dark bay colt that challenged early before finishing 10th in the 20-horse field.
Powder Creek Pavilion helped round out the day's festivities. The popular concert venue hosted a free Country music performance by the C7 Band from Kingston, Oklahoma. The band took the stage at 8:30 p.m. and the boot scootin' was soon to follow.
Powder Creek Pavilion unveiled its new food truck, Big Time Burgers, for this special occasion.
